Social networking
I feel that social networking can be used in libraries for networking between libraries - organising conferences, meetings and educating staff: they can be used between individual libraries and their borrowers for promotional and reader advisorypurposes but the best use is youth clubs and book clubs. Their are almost unlimited possibilities for librarians with suitable skills.

Google docs
I can see the value in being able to share a document with other parties for informational, developmental and editing purposes. The only disadvantage I can see is a need to be connected to the internet continually.
Wiki
I managed to contribute to the library wiki set up for this course and I was quite proud of myself for succeeding.

Podcasting
Podcasting is a great new facility for librarians. We can actually tell borrowers about our library services, book and movie reviews etc. I particularly liked the podcast from Orange County library where they discussed their Disney collection. The British Library use of podcasting was particularly good for promotional and educational purposes.

Slamming the boards
I guess slamming the boards is the way many young people will receive answers to questions but it is very impersonal and how do you analyse whether the answer is authoritative or not without further investigation. Given that we receive less reference queries in the library these days it is probably a good way to practise.
Tagging
I've managed to succeed with the delicious tags and I quite enjoyed this segment. I quite liked the Book Thing site. Cheers.

RETURN TO WIKI
I've finally returned to the Web 2.0 course after a year's break. I was interested in the book review and the wookipedia wiki sites because I can see the potential in those sites. Wikis enable everybody to contribute an opinion. I'm concerned about the work practice application whilst it encourages all staff to participate it could include wrong information.
